INVITATION TO THE ARTISTS - (deadline for application : June 2007)

Environment: common good - common responsibility

Dear Friend,

We invite you to participate in a series of collective and travelling exhibitions on the theme of our responsibility - individual and collective - with respect to environment, gathering Greek, Brazilian, Georgian and US artists.

The first exhibition will be organized between August 23 and 31, 2007 on the island of Syros, in Greece, during the cultural summer events of the township of Posidonia. Subsequent exhibitions will be organized in autumn 2007 in the city of Ioannina in Greece and in 2008 in France and Brazil.

The exhibitions are organized by the European coordination team of "The Charter of Human Responsibilities," an international initiative of organizations from 16 countries, supported by the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation in Switzerland. Other events will be organized in parallel to the exhibitions, such as film screenings, discussions, and artistic workshops for children.

If you are interested in participating in the event, please let us know before June 4, 2007. The artworks should be delivered to the organizers before June 30, 2007.

This is an artistic project which is, at the same time, an invitation to a socially responsible action. We hope that we will have the opportunity to collaborate with you.

We thank you for your interest in the project!

Terms of the participation in the exhibitions:

- Each artist can participate in the exhibitions with one or two of his/her artworks, related to the exhibition’s theme, "our responsibility with respect to environment”, painting, drawing, etc. (bi-dimensional artworks), maximum dimensions 50X70 cm.

- Each artwork must be an original creation of the artist who will participate himself/herself, it cannot be a copy nor a reproduction of elements contained in another artist’s artwork.

- The artworks must be ready to be presented to the public (eg. framed if necessary). If there are specific requirements for the presentation, these will be discussed on a case-by-case basis directly with the concerned artist.

- Each artist will send a short résumé and a photo that will be included in the exhibition catalogues, which are to be published in three languages.

- During the series of exhibitions in 2007 and 2008, the artworks may be sold on condition that the purchaser may acquire them only after the end of the series of exhibitions. In any case, the artworks will be returned to the artists.

- In agreement with the artists, copies of their artworks can be used to illustrate printed material (posters, post cards, books, etc.) that might be published by the European team to be disseminated everywhere in Europe, or in electronic media such as web sites.
