Background Last quarter of 2004, SANLAKAS-Quezon City leaders sat down with Charter Facilitation Team members in the Philippines Pinky Cupino and Flora Santos, to discuss the Charter of Human Responsibilities in the context of the prevailing organizational and community situation of the participants. At the end of the activity, the leaders came up with a Code of Ethics for Grassroots Leaders. This time, the Charter Team together with the first group of participating leaders will discuss the Charter of Human Responsibilities with different sectors of the Philippine population to get a feedback on its relevance and applicability in their sector. Ten groups are the target participants. Hopefully, this project would also raise the awareness of sectors in the Philippines on the Charter. Objectives 1. To raise the awareness of different sectors in the Philippines on the Charter of Human Responsibilities. 2. To get feedback on the Charter and its relevance and applicability in their sector. 3. To make a documentation on the process and results of the sectoral discussions. Target groups 1. SANLAKAS – National Capitol Region, a multisectoral organization engaged in education and campaigns for democracy, peace based on justice and people’s welfare 2. Metro Manila Vendors Alliance of Quezon City 3. Barangay (community local government unit) officials in Barangay West Triangle, Quezon City 4. ALAY KAPWA, an urban poor organization in existence for 20 years and formed through development work by religious organization 5. PILAKK, a women urban poor organization 6. Samahang Demokraikong Kabataan, a youth organization 7. AMA, a farmers’ federation 8. Homeowners Coalition, an inhabitants’ organization in semi-upscale subdivisions 9. Trade union 10. Professionals composed of church people, lawyer, engineer, teacher, etc. |
