Green Youth Ambassadors: An Initiative of the World Youth Foundation
First Ambassadors’ Proposal: A World Youth Water Alliance | ||
More than 80 youths from different parts of the world gathered for an International Youth Conference on Environment and Disaster Risk Management organised by the World Youth Foundation, Malaysia, in cooperation with UNEP, in August 2006. I had the opportunity to share and discuss about the Charter of Human Responsibilities and challenge my fellow delegates on the positive role and responsibilities that we as youth could take up for Ensuring Environment Sustainability - MDG7. I was selected as the Green Youth Ambassador for India. Through discussions and planning with other Green Youth Ambassadors (other country representatives) we have planned to launch the World Youth Water Alliance (WYWA). WYWA is an ambitious program and the support and encouragement of the International Charter team will be really appreciated. The first event that we are launching is at national level in India, with an International Photo Contest on the theme:
We as youth are hoping through WYWA to network and bring to light Youth’s Responsibilities for Safe Drinking Water, Improved Sanitation, etc., which also coincides with the Millennium Development Goals.
