A Code of Ethics for Grassroots Leaders

General Description, by Flora Santos and Pinky Cupino:

Partner in the initiative is SANLAKAS, a nationwide confederation of organizations from the workers, women, business, church, peasant, student and youth sectors. Project Coordinators are Flora Santos, a social worker engaged in advocacy and organizing work for the past 30 years, and Pinky Castelo Cupino.

A group of 20 leaders of grassroots organizations in different communities of Quezon City were convened to discuss what the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World is about. The group also reviewed the Charter of Human Responsibilities. Then, they reflected on their own situation in the organization, in the community and the social context. After which, they formulated a Code of Ethics for Grassroots Community Leaders. This code shall be packaged into a booklet discussing the context of the situation of poor communities in the Philippines, leadership concepts, the Code of Ethics as well as the Charter of Human Responsibilities.

The booklet shall be disseminated to leaders and to NGOs, and workshops shall be organized to reflect on the Code of Ethics and the Charter of Human Responsibilities.
