Methodological booklet for action and reflection on the Charter

Presentation on a methodological booklet: Working experience with the Charter of Responsibilities in Colombia

A path for the exercise of responsibilities – with this title, this publication presents in a straight forward and practical way the road map for those who want to understand or study, promote and build the social utility of exercising human responsibilities in diverse contexts and different places around the world.

As noted in the table of contents, the document includes 10 structured chapters in a clear, graphic, theoretical and practical way. The chapters propose many ways of opening up the path so that different groups, players and social sectors understand the importance of the exercise of responsibilities and get involved into it, for its benefits, achievements and consequences. This set of pedagogic, didactic and conceptual methodologies allows to carry out an action and reflection process including the different societal and community levels that model our planet in a small and large scale, and hence contributes to an education for a responsible citizenship.

It is indeed important that social organizations, governments, international organizations and citizens in general have the opportunity to approach the subject matter of responsibilities with appropriate and useful pedagogic tools in the many places where citizens assume their daily life (companies, academic organizations, territorial entities, public and private entities, etc.).

This booklet is designed as a working tool to support the promotion of human responsibilities at the different levels of action, as a backbone of a new type of citizenship that is responsible, plural, united and participating, in both the local and global sphere, in today’s world.

Our main expectation is that this publication that takes up the tradition popular education allows the interested reader or institutions to promote and stimulate processes of responsible citizenship geared towards solving queries and questions such as: responsibilities for what? What are human responsibilities and how do they relate to the education to citizenship? How do responsibilities empower citizens? Among and with whom should we launch processes of responsible citizenship?
