From incredulity to cautious interest

Preliminary meeting to the conference at the Academy of Political Science, 18th October

With Tination Bochorishvili I tried to explain the objectives and reality of the Alliance. Six scholarly personalities listened to us carefully. But it was not far into the lively discussion that followed, that their initial concerns came up - questions inquiring into whether we had funding possibilities. They then asked about the state of basic research in France and the funding sources. What does the State do? What do companies do?

The small presentation on the urgent need for global ethics made an impact on them, but generated first and foremost incredulity. “How could that become possible?!” As they all expressed their interest, I visited them a second time with different translations of the Charter (they were particularly interested in the German version).
