Silent protest
Artist statement
“When the angels’ agony listens carefully,” when the only way left to protest is silence …
At the border between the 20th and 21st centuries, the actions of the “civilized” world are still scraping the bowels of the earth!
Those at its surface will inevitably suffer, die, and send messages of protest to the wings of puzzled angels.
Note:
I read in a newspaper of the despair of an Iranian political refugee who sewed up his eyes, his nose and his mouth, as a protest against the refusal of a European country to offer him asylum.
This was the stimulus that led me to record a frozen image of the anger, the disgust, the bitterness, the sadness, the distress, for those human activities that tend to destroy humankind and the environment.
Every newspaper article speaks of ecological destruction, the selling of people by their fellow beings, group executions, human atrocities on other humans. |
