Art and Cultural Identity in the Construction of a Cooperative World

This article shows how art can have a fundamental role in the reorganization of social fabric that has been undone.

Art allows us, as the myths say, to touch the mystery of the world, but also to know lucidity, pleasure, and joy. It allows us to penetrate into the unknown in search of partial answers. Poverty is often only considered in its material dimension. However, symbolic and spiritual possessions are just as necessary. It is through them that art emerges, thus creating new links of solidarity, made of imagination and of the indispensable poetry in the knowledge of others and of oneself. Art can have a fundamental role in the reorganization of social fabric that has been undone. A few proposals are formulated on the basis of these ideas (defending the right to cultural citizenship, reinforcing cultural identity in the face of globalization processes, building a culture of peace, etc.), illustrated with contemporary experiences.
